USPTA pro Alex Ringwald finds time to balance his roles as husband, father and tennis director at the Palm Beach Polo Golf & Country Club in Wellington, Fla. “I enjoy the rewards of teaching the game to new people and the fun they have after they have learned it,” he says. As a competitor, Alex was a junior national champion from 1978-1980, and represented Uruguay on the junior circuit. He also played the satellite circuit from 1982 to ’83 and has traveled extensively in Central and South America, Europe and Asia. He has a bachelor’s degree in administration from the University of Economics in Montevideo, Uruguay.
As a tennis pro, Alex started a junior program at the Belmont Country Club in Boston, Mass., in 1990. The program was an accomplishment as there was no junior tennis activity in the area at the time.
Alex plans to work on improving in many areas of the profession by taking courses in management, computer programming and sport science. He also plans to “stay in shape in order to compete at a good level.”
He and his wife, Ellie, have two daughters, Gabriela, and new arrival, Sophia. Alex also enjoysreading, world travel and is a licensed soccer coach.
